NYC
Gramercy Theatre was one of the best shows yet. I would like to take this time
to welcome my sister Isi to the Dir en grey fandom, as this was her first concert,
and surely not her last. This tour the band decided to play smaller venues, to
make the fan to band experience a more intimate one. It was indeed a more
intimate experience. We got there at 8pm the night before the show. We had a
literal 24 hour wait ahead of us. For the most part the weather wasn't too bad,
though it was definatly chilly, and rained a little bit on and off. The designated
bathroom was about 3 blocks away at a 24 hour Mcdonalds. The guys were pretty
active, we saw them walking back and forth all night. Due to the smaller volume of
fans, they were able to move about fairly freely without any real security, which was
nice for them, and us. We were lined up just after the door to an apartment building,
so a few drunk guys came by to keep us company and offer us goods we weren't
really interested in lol. After ninja Daisuke scared the crap out of Cyn, and Kyo
crossed the street about 3 feet in front of us, the night went by fairly uneventfully.
There wasn't much line drama, not because of the fans anyway. Some crazy lady
that lived in the apartment upstairs came downstairs to scream and yell that we weren't
allowed to sit against the building. Mind you, the cops had already come and regulated
where we were allowed to sit, and this lady was insane. She screamed for a while,
demanded to see the venue manager, and eventually wandered back upstairs
mummbling to herself. There was a white USPS box floating around on the street.
The night before, a taxi hit it, got out, moved it to the sidewalk, and kept going. It
managed to make its way back into the middle of the street the following day. A friend
of ours tried to take a picture of the box, JUST as Shinya was passing by. He stopped
and posed, assuming she was trying to take his picture, so she shrugged, and DID
take his picture. When he went inside we all cracked up. Poor Shinya. Once inside,
things continued to be fairly calm and problem free. The opening band was pretty good,
except for the fact that their songs were EXHAUSTINGLY long. Finally it was time for
the show. The guys had had a day to relax since the previous show, so everyone was
energetic and ready to go. The thing I remember most about the show, besides it being
awesome, was the irritating girl I wanted to KILL. During Kyo's solo, some random girl
screamed "take it off!" as Kyo was still wearing his jacket. This smart smart girl, caused
Kyo to keep his jacket on for the remainder of the show. Whoever you are, I hate you.
We all know Kyo has a rather hard head, and for the simple fact that she said that, we
were doomed to never see a bare Kyo for the entire show. Thank you random girl -.-.
Other than those few set backs, the show was great.Probably the LEAST drama filled
Dir en grey concert i've ever been to.
